Let's all Panic...Shall we?

The past few days have been BUSY. So busy that we feel like we're on a roller coaster that goes too high, too fast and WE WANT OFF...but they won't stop it till the ride ends.

The best forecast for the end of this ride...May 23rd.

Tomorrow, or beloved Daddy boards a plane to travel some 20 hours to see our oldest girl, Butterfly, GRADUATE FROM HIGH SCHOOL! How could that be possible? She was just a little sprout who sang beautifully and smiled with a toothless grin! Now, she's passing through the first of many major milestones in her life...the rest of the H gang...remaining Here...will likely be in need of some emotional counseling as we are missing the big trip!

While our Daddy is away, we are all going to press on...trying to do school with our faculty reduced...and worse still...trying to shop and live with 5 kids and 1 parent...in 100 degree heat! If you're so inclined...PRAY FOR US!

Let's all panic...shall we?

To add to the fun, I've been working with the students of our school to prepare a musical/drama performance . The performance had been scheduled for June 6th...then on Monday...they CHANGED the dates...to MAY 22ND! TWO WEEKS SOONER!!!!!

Let's all panic...shall we?

Some of you saw our Christmas program posted on the blog from last term...well this term...we're going cowboy! In Music class I taught them how to sing "She'll be Coming Around The Mountain," "You are My Sunshine" and "Oh Susanna." They have all mastered the English in the music now and we're practicing daily to refine the choreography, lines and the wee square dance that is sandwiched within this western musical review...(they're dancing to Turkey in the Straw, while I "call" it)...Dad is certain if things fold up here that I've got a future callin' at the Square Dancin' club! I'm confident that we could land a gig for these kids in Branson!

The entire performance makes me chuckle to see all these darling Asian kids puttin' on their best twang and cowboy swagger!

This morning we were greeted with news from our employer that due to the Swine Flu (which is freak out alert Priority #1 Here)...that Daddy and Butterfly could be quarantined for 7 days, separated from the family until they're sure Swine Flu didn't come Here with them! The Safety officer here told me on the phone this morning that "we should pray that they don't close down the borders which would leave" Daddy There, instead of HERE!...

The frustration of Media-hyped health crisis!

Let's ALL panic...shall we?!!!!!

A rootin'-tootin' good day to all you cowpokes out there...

I was in China during SARS and when i returned, i self quarantined for 3 weeks at a friends house in LA. None of my friends wanted to see me!

I'll be praying for your situation. Perhaps the school can work with the local officials to resolve the situation. Several schools did that for some of friends who were in China during SARS. (Many of the foreign teachers were sent home early)

We are praying for safe journeys and health for everyone!

Love your description of the sounds and night light. Reminds me of my life in the country as a child with no electricity or air conditioning in Arkansas. Would not trade that life for the life of a city raised child.

Tonight in the Car Tia said, "What's that family in China?" (I knew it was you because you are the "only" family in China, right?! lol) I told her and she said, "Yeah, right them, I think it is going to be a good day for them." So tonight is Friday night the 15th. ;) I hope it is a good day!
