A quick post this morning to let you know that Qian Qian's lip closure surgery did not go forward yesterday as we'd expected because he developed a fever in the hospital the night before.
Qian Qian's mom had changed his formula and apparently his system did not react well to that. So as of yesterday, they had to leave the hospital again, we've purchased the original formula for him now...and hopefully within a week they will be able to re-admit him. Please be lifting this boy and his little family up. It seems that there are many strikes against them and trying to navigate not only the logistical issues (such as his Mom not speaking the common language) and cultural issues (such as how to provide specific support to help with food, etc) is a real struggle. We're getting quite an education in culture and into the general opinion of "charity."
Please also lift up our native "helpers" here who have extended themselves with hours of effort on this effort and have faced criticism from family members who think such an effort as this is folly. Even this week they have also had to defend our cause against the Doctor who is helping Qian Qian and the other patients' families in the small hospital room...who see such an effort to help a poor, countryside boy...as completely illogical.
Lastly, we ask you to lift up protection for all of us involved. We need wisdom and His covering as we're going deeper into the family's life to help Qian Qian. I recently had to remind our native helpers that no matter what others say...or how Qian Qian's family might act (his Aunt also recently offended the native helpers)...that we're doing this because HE said to...and that it is for Qian Qian...and he is an innocent boy who needs help.
Please stand with us asking for all these things to be handled in such a way that when others ask WHY?...that we can give Him the glory fitting Him.
More when we have it to report!

Oh, I am sorry to hear that Qian Qian was running a fever; and I am sorry that the others' are giving the helpers and the family such grief. It truly saddens my heart that so much is stacked against. We WILL lift Qian Qian and ALL of you up to HIM!
Blessings,
Donna
