Divin' In...

This is the final post from The Old Place.

We have now struggled, fussed and acheived the status of "readiness" to leave. Only 4 months of preparation and in just 6 hours, we'll leave our temporary home and head for the airport.

What can we say at this point?

If it were not for an intense compelling...we would not go. We love it here. This has been our home for nearly 12 years and we have said countless times "(We) hope to never leave here."

And yet, we're leaving.

Emotions were running high tonight as we had our final meal with family and a few friends. Perhaps the reality is getting nearer?

Think of us as we travel. Magpie is ill with a fever and sleep is elusive tonight.

We will post once we reach a computer at our 1st stopover destination at The New Place.

Thanks for carrying us in your hearts.

In the words of our family's theme song:

"I'm divin' in, I'm going deep, in over my head I wanna be, caught in the rush, caught in the flow, in over my head I'm gonna go. The river's deep the river's wide this river's water is alive so sink or swim...I'm divin' in...I know there'll be no turning back once my feet have left the ledge"

Here we go...

I can't believe it is finally here. I am thinking of you every minute of the day. We can't wait to hear tales of your adventures and about this "new world"

Love you all to pieces!

I'm thinking of you every minute. I check the time to see what time it is in your "new world."

We pray for you constantly. Enjoy! Be safe! Stay in touch. We love you.

I'm wondering if you are awake. I see that it is about 10:20 a.m. Saturday there. Actually, I'm wondering if any of you got an entire night's sleep last night. Wondering if it is hot in your apartment. Wondering if you found more food and maybe some eating utensils.

Wondering--tub or shower? Soap? Water safe to drink?

People around you friendly?

Summer school fun for the children? Anyone in that setting speak English.

What if you become proficient in speaking Chinese, and I cannot understand a word any of you say when you get home? Hum. Teach me, teachers.

Do they have a library there with books in the English language? Do they have a McDonalds? How about Wal-Mart--surely not! I recall eating at a McDonalds in Europe and thinking that was not what I wanted to do in Europe.

Are you drinking plenty of fluids? I'm a mom, so cut me some slack on asking about that. Okay?

Needless to say, I'm thinking of you wherever I am. Take this as a cyber hug.

Any fever--Magpie?

Love to all,
G. Deanie
