Yesterday we made some new friends...
He's British, born in Tanzania...she's Chinese...they have one daughter. We went over to their apartment after a lovely dinner of local cuisine to find that they had a SATELLITE dish. This means...they receive news in English!
We gathered around the TV set, mesmerized...just like the Amish folk who used to come to the big city in my hometown...they would stand in the TV sales section of the local retailer and be entranced by the moving pictures.
We discussed the current gov't climate of Tanzania, the upcoming games and the current exchange rates of a few different currencies...
I felt certain that we'd journeyed to parts far beyond my old backyard.
This morning at 8:15 AM there was a major cacophony of sound...Dad determined that it was fireworks...we've seen them twice already...the last time on Monday night as we sped through town in our taxi...and even now as I type this at 12:17 PM on Wednesday afternoon they're shooting more off...
I don't know why.
This state of being for us is very common...we simply don't know why.
Today we rely on the knowledge that He knows everything.

I wonder how much your family will pay your new friends???? I have not gotten a pay raise for that job since 1985!!
Back to school on Monday. When is your first day??
Check out those fireworks. Where I live, they have these after the granstand performance and at the end of the horse show. Could be a good horse show there.
I'm hoping for some good recipes following all of your wonderful cuisine experiences.
Isn't it great to experience the culture of another part of this big earth!
We think of you constantly.
Our love, kisses and hugs to all.
