Still here...no computer access...

Sorry for another brief update...

We're unsure when this week we might finally get daily access to a computer and have time to give you more details on life here..

Thanks for all the thoughts as Bub's fever has gone now most of the kids have sniffles, sneezes and coughs...oh joy!

We made it through the interview with the authorities. It was pretty tense for us as we wanted to answer everything well. Dad had a funny, funny outburst as he was the first one interviewed and was having some difficulty making out the broken English. When he was asked what his major was in school he blurted out "C-h-r-i-s-t-i-a-n" (quite loudly and proudly as though he had the winning answer)apparently he had been anticipating the rlgion question above all else! He was sheepish then when he had to retract his mystifying answer with "Industrial Technology."

In his words..."I spazzed!"

In one week we should have all the final papers to work here for the next year. Our visa will be converted from a "30 day" to a "one year, multiple entry work" type and we'll be good to go...as more rightly stated...good to stay.

We have late-breaking word today that we are supposed to be able to move into our official home on August 30th...keep lifting that up please. It certainly will make getting to work and school each day MUCH EASIER. Although we're going to have to figure out all of the essential details like "where do we get our large bottled water?"

Now, at our current home, we call this number...some fella who speaks not one word of English answers and I try to say a few local dialect words for 'we need more water'...and everytime after about 15 minutes...he appears at our door to deliver.

Funny thing about it...I've never told him our name and each time I've never had to give our address...I guess we're the only foreigners on his route! :)

Many of you have raved in your private emails to me about the locals fascination with our white legs. Many of you have longed to be in a position like us where many clamor to see your legs because of their glamorous white glow. I forgot to tell you one other fascination that the locals have with us (among a million other things, I'm sure)...

I have no hair under my armpits.

Well, of course, if any of you have been camping with me a Lk Perrygin in the summertime you know that I have the capacity to grow hair in my armpits...but I strive to keep them closely shorn...aye...even shaved clean, daily.

This is not the case here. And sometimes, it's quite startling for the locals when for some reason I stretch out my arm...to hail a cab, for instance...I can see them...staring at my underarms.

But...truthfully, it's mutual. Everytime I see hairy armpits on a lady here...I stare.

I may just integrate into the culture...and let 'em grow out...

Dad threatens that he'll shave them in my sleep.

Bummer.
